The Saltaire Arts Trail was a wonderful experience with so many brilliant artists and makers showcasing their talent. For those who missed it, I thought I’d share a few of my favourite things from the open house/pop-up galleries and the Makers’ Fair. I say a few as I would happily have featured them all.
I love this felted faux taxidermy by Zoe Stainton. The sculptures are made from British wool and are needle felted, which involves using barbed needled to compact and sculpt the wool. They cost £165 each.
Aupalola’s rugs are crocheted with T-shirt yarn. You can find her on Facebook and Etsy.
Jacky al Samarraie aka The Art Rooms is based in Saltaire and her designs adorn everything from prints to ceramics. Jacky has collaborated with local craftsman Bob Chapman to create these beautiful wood stem vases. £35 each, from www.theartrooms.co.uk
You could pop the question with this gorgous piece of resin art by Leigh Shepherd Designs, www.leighshepherddesigns.com
I love sheep and dry stone walls and no-one captures them better than printmaker Anna Tosney. Anna has a studio/gallery in Skipton, where she also runs workshops. https://annatosney.wordpress.com/workshops
Radio 4’s Shipping Forecast is the inspiration for this wood art by Sardines for Tea and who doesn’t love that? Find her on Folksy
Finally, here is some beautiful embroidery by the lovely Maggie Moo Designs. She also produces art prints, notebooks and textiles.
