Christmas starts today when Bettys Harrogate reveals its festive window displays this evening, and everyone is invited to come along for some carolling, mince pie eating and mulled wine glugging.
If you want to see it, get to Bettys Tearooms on Parliament Street tonight at 5.30pm with the countdown and big reveal planned for 6pm.
Insider sources tell me that the Bettys elves have been up all night dressing the windows for Bettys Christmas 2018.
Last year’s creation, by Bettys “Head of Beautiful” (oh, how we love that title) Robyn Cox told the tale of a boy and girl walking through an enchanted forest. More than 300 people turned up to see last year’s reveal, so don’t miss this year.
Meanwhile, the Harrogate Christmas Market opens on Thursday and runs to Sunday (November 15-18). I went last year and it was so lovely. It’s on what I call the bottom Stray, near St Mary’s Walk on Montpellier Hill. Not to be missed. Details at www.HarrogateChristmasMarket.org.
And Lotherton Hall near Leeds will be staging its Christmas Experience from 23rd November to 23rd December, promising a festive family adventure through a winter wonderland with activities including the Twelve Days of Christmas Woodland Walk, the Elf Village, the Enchanted Fairy Dell, The House and Edwardian Selfie Studio and The Christmas Courtyard.
The Christmas Experience will also feature a very special North Pole, where children can help Santa’s elves in their workshop, as well as visiting Father Christmas himself. The Christmas Experience is run by Lotherton, Leeds City Council and Breeze. Tickets available now, at www.thechristmasexperience.co.uk
