Well, it would be rude not to, with so many bargains about.
Plus, after Christmas and New Year, I always feel the need to have a spring clean and an audit of the house and its contents. Now that the decorations are down, what’s left, what still works (in terms of function and looking good) and what am I heartily sick of, so needs a switch or a ditch?
Then, naturally, it’s time to replace those empty spaces and un-illuminated corners with new stuff, which means hitting the sales and finding bargains to get the year off with a stylish bang.
I’ve been browsing the sales on the sites of some of my favourite brands, not just homes stuff but also clothes, because it’s amazing what goes into sale even though it’s a classic design or still hitting all the right style notes for the year ahead.
Anthropologie opened this year at the new Victoria Gate shopping centre in Leeds – and it’s a huge bonus to Yorkshire, both for clothes and individual home wares. These unusual monogram Homegrown mugs were £8 and are now £4.76. See the Leeds store and Anthropologie.com
Pure Collection has been a real find for me. It’s a lovely clothing and accessories brand which sells across the UK and the US. Its main focus is cashmere but it also does well-designed, beautifully made pieces in other luxe fabrics, including premium silk and cotton. The jersey is absolutely gorgeous, really high quality, and so soft, plus the colours are always quite wonderful. I’ve actually got this sapphire blue top, above. It’s usually £49, now £34 in the sale, at Purecollection.com. Pure also can be found at John Lewis, and there’s a standalone boutique on Stonegate in York.
Cos is also new to Yorkshire, and we are so lucky to have it, also at Victoria Gate in Leeds. I love its simple statement style. This crinkle top was £69, now £48, at Cosstores.com. People always notice when I wear Cos – in a good way.
I’ve been on the look-out for sleek but substantial flats with a slight heel, and these are perfect. And an absolute bargain. Miista Shantel loafers, were £180, now £108, at Harvey Nichols. See Harveynichols.com
How chic are these! My search for new simple white lamps found these at John Lewis. It’s just £25 for the pair.
Finally, not a sales bargain, but a bargain nonetheless. I cracked on Day 10 of Dry January. This might have helped me reach the end of the month.
