We’re always looking for “quick getaways” – gorgeous places to eat and stay in Yorkshire – and the Carpenters Arms at Felixkirk is now top of our must visit list.
The inn with rooms in the village of Felixkirk, near Thirsk, has just been included in the Good Hotel Guide’s top ten discoveries of the year. It has previously been voted Yorkshire’s Favourite Pub by Welcome to Yorkshire. The hotel guide’s inspectors labelled it: “Outstanding: the bedrooms are stunning and well thought out; the cooking highlighted the freshest of ingredients.”
The Carpenters Arms is owned by Yorkshire company Provenance Inns, which already has a trophy cabinet full of awards. They include Pub Group of the Year 2015, The Morning Advertiser’s Best Freehouse in Britain and Restaurant of the Year at the Flavours of Herriot Country Awards. Provenance Inns’ latest venture, the contemporary West Park Hotel overlooking the Stray in Harrogate, recently celebrated its first anniversary with the Best Newcomer award at the 2015 Harrogate Hospitality and Tourism Awards.
