We love great gift ideas and Jayne Little’s handcrafted marble, slate and wood products are the perfect personalised present.
Jayne started her business, Marbletree, after a successful career at Marks & Spencer. It’s now family concern with her dad and her brother working alongside her at her HQ in Great Ouseburn, near Boroughbridge.
She designs everything from pastry and cheese boards to coasters and wine coolers. Our favourite is the “I’m crackers about you” cheese board and we adore the marble salt pig, which is great for keeping cooking salt cool and dry. Foodies will also be impressed with the flat pestle and mortar.
The heart-shaped items are most popular and you can have a personalised message carved into any of these eminently practical products. So they make useful and beautiful birthday, wedding and anniversary presents.
Prices start from £18 for a coaster and £20 for a marble heart. The latest launch, a carved memory slate, looks set to appeal to animal lovers. It was inspired by one of the Marbletree team who left an engraved slate with their late dog’s name on at the top of Coniston Old Man, one of his favourite walks.
Marbletree’s designs are manufactured in a Cumbrian workshop, and says Jayne: “We have just recruited a packing team, who ensure all the orders go out in beautiful gift boxes, hand tied with ribbon with a handwritten gift message.”
