The Open Studios concept is a brilliant one. Artists and makers open their workspaces and invite members of the public in to see what they do.
There is no compulsion to buy, though they are extra happy if you do. What really matters is the feedback and the engagement with the work. The “oohs”, the “aahs”, the “I love that” and even the “I’m not keen on” comments are helpful.
The latest Open Studios is in lovely East Yorkshire and Hull – a sensational blend of city, coast and the wonderful Wolds. It runs over two weekends, October 11 and 12, and October 18 and 19, 10am to 5pm. Visit www.eastyorkshireopenstudios.co.uk
Textile artist Corinne Young and her daughter, Rebecca, a writer and arts organiser, have masterminded the event, which features around 60 artists and galleries
Work on display will include paintings, print, photography, sculpture, ceramics, glass, textiles, precious metals and more.
“Open Studios is a fun, friendly experience, and an excellent opportunity to explore the beautiful East Yorkshire area that continues to inspire its artists and makers,” says Rebecca.
