The Kings Arms in Askrigg played an important part in the much-loved TV series All Creatures Great and Small.
Fans of the show will recognise it as “The Drovers”, where James Herriot  and his fellow vets propped up the bar.
Now, in memory of the actress Lynda Bellingham who played James’ wife Helen, the pub is staging a 1940s fundraiser.
The event on Saturday evening,  March 14, is in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support and tickets are £30 per person. It includes a 1940s themed buffet and hand-pulled ale and drinks.
All food and drink for the evening has been donated by a long list of generous donors and includes delicious fresh salads, cold meats, pies, pickles, freshly baked bread and proper trifles.
With traditional games, a raffle and a sing-along at the piano, this promises to be a very special evening.
To reserve a ticket contact 01969 650113. All proceeds to MacMillan Cancer Support.
Note: only ticket holders on the evening will be admitted on the evening.
