This really is the most magical time of the year, especially for people who love decorating for Christmas…like me. I usually treat myself to a few new trimmings and my first buy of the season is this frosted tealight holder from The Home at Salts Mill in Saltaire. It cost £1.85 and looks wonderful when the candle is lit, which is most of the time. I am feeding it one tealight a day at the moment! www.thehomeonline.co.uk
Here are some gorgeous Christmassy things on my wish list…
I adore Andy Poplar’s etched glass designs. Yorkshire-based, he trades under Vinegar and Brown Paper. His Christmas collection is fab and includes these holly and ivy jars, £69.95 a pair – just fill them with festive greenery every year. Simple as! You can find them at The Heart Gallery, Hebden Bridge, www.heartgallery.co.uk or www.vinegarandbrownpaper.co.uk
These candles and bracelets are made by Trimmed with Love, a lovely sub-brand of Wyedean Weaving, a long-established textile mill in Haworth that specialises in braiding. The small, scented candle is £14 and has a 40+ hour burn time. The bracelets are £18 and have a bell charm on, www.trimmedwithlove.com
I’m a big fan of Hebden Bridge-based artist Kate Lycett and think these Christmas cards, featuring North and West Yorkshire scenes, would look great in frames. They cost £10 for a pack of five, http://www.katelycett.
The team at Keelham Farm Shop in Thornton, near Bradford, has come up with celebrity-themed Christmas displays. My favourite is this, inspired by Lesley Garrett. I’m sure she’d be thrilled by it, especially as she is represented by the lovely fairy that is centre stage (where else?) The decorations are very reasonably priced and start from £1. www.keelhamfarmshop.co.uk
