I’m looking forward to the wonderful Ilkley vintage fair this Saturday, October 28. It’s one of my favourites thanks to the lovely, friendly fellow stallholders and the fantastic mix of homeware, fashion and fabulous accessories, not forgetting scrumptious tea, coffee and cake.
The event, which is at Ilkley Playhouse on Weston Road from 10am to 4pm, is organised by Jill Jeffrey. She trades as Alfie Robot Retro and is a dynamic vintage doyenne, whose ethusiasm and energy is contagious. Her husband is in charge of the playlist and he has great taste in music. Dancing, foot tapping and singing along is all acceptable, at least it is on my stall.
I specialise in homeware – retro coffee tables, art, vintage dinner sets and plant pots feature – I have a thing about gorgeous old plant pots – with books (Snoopy) a bit of fashion (suede, velvet and Welsh tapestry jackets anyone? They don’t make ’em like they used to) and jewellery thrown in.
Selling is a way of recyling some of my much-loved vintage collection so I can make room for more and I’ll no doubt be tempted to buy. I’ll definitely be paying a visit to all the other stalls, see below to check out some of their wares. Hope to see you there for vintage fun and a trip down memory lane.
