Goth Weekend, Oct 26–28, Whitby. Latest instalment of the twice-yearly music festival which brings massive gathering of goths to the North Yorkshire seaside. www.whitbygothweekend.co.uk

Rhian Malin, Ceramic Showcase,The Craft Centre and Design Gallery, Leeds. Exhibition of hand-painted wheel-thrown porcelain with cobalt-blue decoration. World War One Centenary Exhibition, The Station, Station Yard, Richmond. Exhibition to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the 1914-18 war by two local artists, Caroline Shepherd and Jennifer Richardson, from Oct 27 to Dec 31. Also, the Station, working with the Green Howards Museum is staging a special exhibition, The Station in War, from Nov 8 to Nov 12 focusing on the role of Richmond’s railway during the war. http://www.thestation.co.uk/news/remembrance-at-the-station

Northern Ballet autumn season. Northern Ballet revives family classics and showcases new dance. Returning to the stage for the first time since 2007, Northern Ballet’s The Three Musketeers will be performed at the Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield from October 24-27, choreographed by artistic director David Nixon. Later in October, Northern Ballet will hold the world premiere of its new children’s ballet Puss in Boots at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre, Leeds from Oct 27-Nov 5. The season ends with festive favourite The Nutcracker at Hull New Theatre (Nov 14-17) and Leeds Grand Theatre (Dec 4-16). northernballet.com/whatson

The Night Ferry, Burton Constable Hall & Grounds, Skirlaugh, Sproatley, East Yorkshire, until Oct 25. The Wonder of Woodcuts, by printmakers Andy English and Jonathan Ashworth, The Craft Centre and Design Gallery, Leeds, until October 27. Showcasing woodcut prints by two artists exploring storytelling, nature, environmental issues, people and personal experiences. Justine Warner, art exhibition, The Yorkshire Arboretum, Castle Howard. Work by local mixed-media and textile artist Justine Warner based on her year-long residency at the Yorkshire Arboretum. Once Upon a Time, Chatsworth House, Nov 10-Jan 6. Be transported into a world of make-believe as Chatsworth presents a selection scenes from classic tales woven throughout the house to create a storybook world. The creative team has produced a Christmas experience that draws on the talents of the staff from across the estate to make costumes, props and sets as well as painting, decorating, printing and staging with lighting, sounds and scents. The Chatsworth Christmas market will be running from 16 November to 4 December, with more than 100 market stalls offering a wide range of Christmas gifts and decorations. Entrance to ‘Once Upon a Time is included with Christmas admission. 1918: The Long Last Mile exhibition, The Folly, Victoria Street, Settle. A commemorative exhibition looking at the lives and deaths among the men of North Craven in the final year of World War One, the year which took the greatest toll of all. Until Dec 22, 1pm-4pm. Adults £2, 16 and under free. The exhibition is organised in association with the Craven and the First World War project and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The Hepworth Prize for Sculpture, The Hepworth Wakefield, until Jan 20, 2019. Exhibition featuring the work of shortlisted artists competing for this £30,000 biennial award recognising a British or UK-based artist of any age, at any stage in their career who has made a significant contribution to the development of contemporary sculpture.
