I’ve just calculated that it would take me a three-and-a-half hour round trip to work if I lived in this lovely house in Fylingthorpe, near beautiful Robin Hood’s Bay. It’s a long drive but I could bang on some tunes or listen to Radio 4 and it wouldn’t be so hard. My partner, however, would face a six hour journey so buying this coastal home is not an option for me. In case you’re in a position to buy or, like me, you like to dream and be inspired by fabulous interiors, here are some more pictures and details.
Croft View on Thorpe Bank in Fylingthorpe is on the market for £290,000 with Savills. It has, they say, been “immaculately restored”. It occupies a wonderful position within the heart of the village but with an open outlook at the rear over Kingston Field, a large area of communal green ringed by period houses and cottages. There are stunning views across the green to the cliffs and sea at Robin Hood’s Bay.
It has a sitting room, pictured at the top of this page, and a kitchen and dining room with views across the green
The cottage has three double bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, and a house bathroom. Outside, the property has outbuildings, a courtyard and access to the communal green.
Fylingthorpe has good local facilities including a post office, primary school, pub, butcher’s and village shops. It is a mile from Robin Hood’s Bay and about five miles from wonderful Whitby. For details of Croft View visit www.savills.co.uk
