We are very, very excited to be visiting the Spring Flower Show in Harrogate next week.
Even if the current heavenly bout of weather fades, it looks set to be a fabulous festival of nature and garden inspiration.
This year, the show turns the garden inside out, creating a topsy turvy world in The GREENhouse, where plants and flowers take over rooms to create a house filled with the magic of nature. Like, a bathroom where beautiful water lilies float serenely by as you bathe, a bedroom where you sink into a real bed of aromatic herbs. Sounds divine, and we cannot wait to explore.
Also new for 2018 are Secret Sheds, when designers, students and community gardening groups feature their sheds around the showground. It gives organisations a chance to create a shed display that reflects their work or sends out a message. Each shed comes with a 2msq plot of land. Ripon Walled Gardens plan to have a Victorian theme garden, making their display from recycled materials, including rescued period bricks.
Meanwhile, Designed to Last is a project set for show garden designers to find solutions to everyday problems, from clay like concrete or soil that leaks moisture like a sieve.
There will be incredible spring show gardens along The Avenue, amazing floristry displays in the Floral Pavilion, the Feast! Food Theatre and loads of talks, master classes, music and more. Local floral designer Jo Banks will be showing how to style flowers for the home and celebrity florist Jonathan Moseley will create fabulous designs around the theme of 50 Shades of Green. We love green!!!
