Leeds College of Art Graduate Fashion Show has become one of my favourite annual events.
For the second year now, it has been held within the magnificent Corn Exchange, downstairs. The two curving staircases make an unusual and effective catwalk entrance, and there’s plenty of room for the audience.
There was prosecco served on the ground floor level before the show, and models began appearing and taking seats among the melee, like little tableaux as a taster of what was to come on the runway.
The leeds College of Art show was all put together so beautifully and professionally. Thoroughly enjoyable. If you get the chance to go next year, do. It’s astonishingly inspirational and the graduates are all so clever and talented.
Of course, it’s a place to see directional, forward-thinking work, some interpretative work and experimental, but it’s also a place to pick up great ideas for how to dress and style yourself.
I wish I could show all the Leeds College of Art graduate fashion students’ work here but I’ve just picked out a few. Well done, everyone, though – great show, fantastic work.
