Bringing some Japanese style to Yorkshire via Australia has paid off for Rosie Battye and her partner Philip Enever.
The couple fell in love with the simplicity, beauty and functionality of tableware by Australian brand Made in Japan, which sources its products from the land of the rising sun.
They are now the UK stockists and their feeling that the tableware would have mass appeal was correct, Their customers also include top chefs and restaurateurs
Most of the ceramics are from family-run kilns in the central Japanese region of Gifu, where potters have been refining glazes and shapes for generations. The plates and bowls are hardwearing works of art that show off food beautifully.
Rosie and Philip are now selling MIJ tableware online and in Redbrick Mill, Batley, which reminds me that for those who love interiors, Redbrick Mill is an absolute must. Along with lots of great independent traders, it boasts big name brands such Heal’s, Made.com and BoConcept. You can find Made in Japan here www.mij.co.uk
