Marilyn Stowe auctions designer wardrobe for charity

February 8, 2018

Brilliant bargains alert. Self-confessed designer fashion lover, Yorkshire lawyer Marilyn Stowe, is auctioning off her collection of absolutely fabulous clothes and accessories in aid of St Gemma’s Hospice this Saturday.
A familiar face from TV and Yorkshire’s top society events, Marilyn Stowe built up the largest family law practice in the UK, with a stellar international client base to boot.

Four of the outfits up for sale, including a Chanel two-piece and a Burberry Prorsum camel double-breasted belted coat (labelled size 42).

She regularly appeared on ITV’s This Morning as a family law expert, doing those live phone-in thingys with Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield, and was always on the BBC and Sky, too.
So, when a gal has such a glamorous high-profile career, clearly, she needs an equally glamorous wardrobe. Following the sale of her firm Stowe Family Law last year, Marilyn Stowe is selling some of her designer clothes and accessories in aid of a wonderful cause.

Lawyer and designer fashion collector Marilyn Stowe.

She says, “My hobbies, apart from looking after my husband, son and two dogs, have been distance running and purchasing beautiful designer clothes – both were great for stress release”.
The collection is coming up for auction in the Vintage Costume and Textiles Sale at Tennants Auctioneers in Leyburn, North Yorkshire, this Saturday, February 10.

Oh my! Some of Marilyn Stowe’s accessories collection, to be auctioned this Saturday at Tennants in Leyburn in aid of St Gemma’s Hospice.

It consists of more than 50 lots including Chanel and Louis Vuitton handbags, Christian Louboutin shoes, and tailored dresses, suits and coats by Givenchy, Chanel, Roland Mouret, Victoria Beckham and Gucci – and many more. Estimates range from £80-120 (plus buyer’s premium) for a pair of Christian Louboutin ‘Newton D’Orsay’ black leather pumps, to £400-600 for a Chanel two-piece black and grey boucle suit. The collection will be available to view at Tennants in Leyburn tomorrow, February 9, and on the morning of the sale.
Marilyn Stowe says: “This sale consists of the best clothes I have collected, donated in aid of St Gemma’s Hospice who took care of my late father, Arnold Morris, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the same time that my mother, Estelle Morris, was also terminally ill from a diabetic illness. They passed away within 12 days of each other in January, 2013. The proceeds of this sale will all go to St Gemma’s, for the part they played in three bleak, dark months following my father’s diagnosis when none of us knew how best to help him.”

Details of Marilyn Stowe’s designer collection can be found on the Tennants website.

It is SOOO worth a look. Fabulous clothes and bags and shoes, in a much-needed worthy cause. And it sounds like a great day out; there are lots of vintage clothes and collectables being auctioned on that day, too. Take a look on the website.
