The fabulous Makers’ Fair returns to Victoria Hall as part of Saltaire Festival this weekend, launching tomorrow (Friday, the 8th September) evening from 4 – 8 pm, followed by all day Saturday the 9th, 10 am to 5 pm.
We’ve both been in previous years, and it’s a real treat, with the opportunity to chat to the makers themselves, watch demonstrations and be inspired by (and buy) ceramics, jewellery, textiles, original printmaking and lots more, all of it original in design and construction. It’s even possible to commission something special, should you be so inclined.
More than 40 top designer-makers from the North and further afield will be filling Victoria Hall with handmade contemporary craft and design that is truly unique – a word that is, for once, the correct one to use here.
You can go online here http://www.saltaireinspired.org.uk/ to find out more about Saltaire Inspired, which runs the event, and see a video made by White Rabbit Productions in May 2016.
Then, absolutely not to be missed is the Open Gardens Sculpture Trail when Saltaire residents open the back yards and gardens of their Grade II listed cottages to share with visitors the wide variety of planting alongside the creativity of selected sculptors and 3D artists
The Sculpture trail is open from 12 noon – 4.30pm on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 September, during the opening weekend of the Saltaire Festival (which runs throughout September).
