The perfect country cottage in Yorkshire

March 31, 2016

If you’ve ever dreamed of escaping to the country and living in a pretty chocolate box cottage this could be the property for you. I love it. Sadly, I can’t afford the £450,000 asking price but I’ll be on the phone to estate agents Carter Jonas when I win the lottery. Delves Cottage is just outside  Egton Bridge, one of the most glorious parts of Yorkshire. The village is in the North York Moors National Park and is close to Whitby. As you can see the roof is thatched, which is unusual in Yorkshire. Inside, the 17th century, grade II* listed property is utterly charming.

Inside, there is an entrance hall, utility, bathroom, sitting room, mezzanine study, dining room,  kitchen/breakfast room, three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The bonus is that it comes with a one bedroom guest cottage. So when I win the jackpot I can invite friends and family to stay

Outside, there are gardens and woodland of about an acre, a garage, private parking, a greenhouse and a potting shed.
The house stands on a hillside overlooking the Esk Valley, just above the pretty village of Egton Bridge. The nearby villages of Egton, Grosmont and Glaisdale offer an excellent range of shops and useful services and attractions, including both the North York Moors steam railway and the mainline railway, with a wider range of facilities available in Whitby and Pickering.
The estate agent’s brochure says: “Undoubtedly the biggest attraction of this beautiful area is the remarkable and undulating scenery, and unlimited miles of moorland walks on the doorstep.”  So true. I may have to buy two lottery tickets this weekend. For detail visit the www.carterjonas.co.uk
