Thatched cottage: Gorgeous Yorkshire home of the week

March 4, 2014

How could we resist this chocolate box cottage? We had to make it our Gorgeous Yorkshire home of the week.

Thatched properties are rare in Yorkshire, so that alone makes it special, but its owners have added another surprise. The contemporary side extension has been carefully designed to complement the historic house  and make the most of the view.

The cottage, in the idyllic hamlet of Crambe, near  Malton, overlooks the 11th century St Michael’s Church.

Inside, the property is a mix of traditional and modern , with a host of period features that have been restored  or installed- like the Yorkshire sliding sash windows, beams and old fireplaces.

On the ground floor, there is an entrance hall, family kitchen with dining area, utility room, rear hall, cloakroom and a sitting room.

Upstairs,  there is a master bedroom with dressing room and en-suite bathroom plus three further bedrooms, an en suite shower room and a house bathroom.
Outside, there is a double garage, outbuilding, summer house, gardens and a  courtyard.

Church Farm House, Crambe, is for sale with Carter Jonas,  £635,000, tel: 01904 558200, www.carterjonas.co.uk
