Work takes me all over Yorkshire and my latest trip was to Scarborough. It was a long and lovely drive as I always take the scenic route where possible. This time it was up over Sutton Bank and through Helmsley and Pickering before dropping into the much-loved seaside town.
In desperate need of fresh air plus coffee and cake after completing the job, I went for a quick wander and found Mojo’s music cafe. What drew me in was a big sign shouting about its vegan and vegetarian options. Vegan food is especially hard to find in cafes and restaurants so when it’s on the menu you know it’s a place that’s switched on and “with it”.
The cafe looked warm, cosy and relaxed and it was indeed all three. I’ll also add friendly. The owner was very helpful, the lemon cake was delicious and I didn’t feel at all awkward sitting on my own. Everyone else was busy chatting because it’s that kind of place, the sort where you chill and have a good chinwag.
The menu caters for just about every taste, the prices are reasonable and there’s music playing.
Mojo’s is in the town centre at 55 Victoria Road, which means it’s also a short walk to the seafront and some of the most glorious coastal scenery anywhere.
