Vintage Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Steiff up for auction at Tennants

Fancy a Chanel midnight blue quilted leather handbag, anyone? Or a Louis Vuitton suitcase? Both go under the hammer tomorrow, Saturday, July 4, as part of the Costume, Accessories & Textiles Sale at Tennants Auctioneers in Leyburn. North Yorkshire.

There are vintage textiles, period costume, luxury designer accessories, giant sample perfume bottles, lace, quilts and more, including a Steiff bear pull along bear on wheels (estimate: £100-150).

The Chanel bag made circa 1989 to 1991and is estimated at £1,200-1,800).

A rare collection of Burberry coats is also up for auction as Tennants reopens with coronavirus measures in place. The Burberry vendor, from Yorkshire, worked as a sample maker for Burberry for more than two decades and the coats were made during the 1980s and 1990s, probably at Burberry’s factories at Castleford and Cross Mills. The collection includes a grey wool poncho, which was produced as a sample but never produced for retail. Many of the coats were purchased in factory sample sales and sizes are varied but most are a size 12-14. Each has an estimate of £100-£200.

There are also a vintage Louis Vuitton suitcase, Hermès silk scarves, and leather handbags by Mulberry, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton and Chanel.

A Late 19th Century Yellow Silk Two-Piece Ladies Outfit – Estimate: £100-200

Among the period and vintage costume lots is a late 19th century yellow silk two-piece lady’s outfit, made by Mme Miles of 48 Abingdon Road, Kensington (estimate: £100-200), and a collection of 1920s to 1950s day and evening wear, plus 1970s pieces by Ossie Clark and Biba.

An Early 20th Century Steiff Pull Along Bear – Estimate: £100-150

The sale also includes beautiful antique white cotton baby dresses and gowns, bowler and top hats, over-size advertising perfume bottles from the Jane Wilson Collection.
