THIS WEEK: Crafted By Hand, Masham Town Hall, Nov 2-3, 10am-4pm. Event featuring more than 40 contemporary artists, designers and makers chosen for their quality and originality. There are also demonstrations and a room of cakes. http://www.by-handevents.com

THIS WEEK: Dracula, Oct 29-Nov 2, Northern Ballet, Quarry Theatre, Leeds Playhouse. David Nixon’s  version of Bram Stoker’s Gothic classic. Features music by Schnittke, Rachmaninov, Pärt and Daugherty. https://leedsplayhouse.org.uk/events/dracula

Thought Bubble Convention, Nov 9-10, Harrogate Convention Centre. The biggest comic art convention in the UK finds a new home in Harrogate after 13 years in Leeds, with big names already confirmed to appear including Judge Dredd co-creator John Wagner, Watchmen artist Dave Gibbons, Spike Trotman, and Rosemary Valero-O’Connell. The accompanying Thought Bubble Festival, from Nov 4-10, will also feature exhibitions of comic art in smaller venues around Harrogate and throughout the region. https://www.thoughtbubblefestival.com

ON NOW: Alan Davie & David Hockney: Early Works, The Hepworth Wakefield, until Jan 19. Alan Davie, who had his first solo exhibition at Wakefield Art Gallery in 1958, was a major influence on the more celebrated Hockney, then a student at Bradford College of Art. ON NOW: Mosaic exhibition, Otley Courthouse, until Sat, Nov 9, Mon-Sat, 10am-4pm. Works by 26 people from Mosaic Mania in Otley as well as by its founder and tutor Frances Taylor. https://otleycourthouse.org.uk

ON NOW: Dolls’ House Exhibition, Newby Hall & Gardens, near Ripon. Seventy houses of all shapes, sizes, styles and ages in one of the world’s most important private collections. www.newbyhall.com
